Soup is a 'pre-meal', a warm up, an appetiser, an entrée. It is NOT a meal in itself. I do not care how 'chunky' it is. I don't care how much bread you consume with it....SOUP IS NOT A MEAL

When does a soup begin to morph into a stew or casserole?
What measure of chunkidity and chewability is required?
Is it a watery stew or a chewy soup?
Maybe it has to do with how much liquid the bread can soak up?
Is there a mathematical table with decimal places to help?
Maybe Ness or Kathryn could provide professional advice?
AND ANOTHER THING- COLD soups are NOT soups!
AND.... ANY LIQUID WITH PARSLEY FLOATING IN IT FOR GARNISH IS NOT MANLY FOOD! [Parmesan Maybe]

There is in fact a mathematical formula for determining the 'title' of particular foods. It has to do with temperature, viscosity, maliability, density and what percentage falls through a size 3 sieve.
Well Billy, here is my chance to be a soup advocate! I adore soup! I'd glady eat soup as a meal quite regularly over winter. However I will agree that cold soup is just plain wrong. But hot soup is a great satifying and warm meal in winter, makes you feel all good inside! I will admit that it probably needs toast or a roll or something to dip in it for it to be really filling. But I am a huge soup fan!

I agree Mr B. I think it is our moral and ethical responsability to get rid of soup in the affluent western world. Send it to a country that needs it
